Bonswair,

X--Atkinson cycle (typically also indicates a Hybrid engine, as Toyota only uses the Atkinson cycle with hybrids)
Z-- Supercharged (For example, the 4A-GZE code means that it's an engine from the 4th generation of the A family, supercharged, electronically fuel injected, with performance cams.)Note: Toyota, in 1987, began assigning dual letter engine codes to some of the "engine family" categories in some engine lines, particularly six cylinder models. This can create potential confusion. E.g. 1MZ-FE - This is not a supercharged, narrow angle, fuel injected M-series engine, but a narrow angle, fuel injected MZ-series engine. Confusion is easiest to avoid when using the dash to separate between the engine series and its own characteristics: for instance, 1MZ-FE rather than 1M-ZFE.
Some of the Family block types are:
A- inline 4
S- inline 4
R-inline 4E-inline 4ZZ- inline 4
G- inline 6JZ- inline 6FZ- inline 6M- inline 6 (JZ predecessor)
MZ- V6
GR-V6VZ- V6
UZ- V8
GZ- V12
